Willis Jenkins was born in Joplin, Missouri, in 1955. After graduating from high school in 1973, he joined the Navy and served for four years. Upon his discharge in 1978, he moved to San Diego, California, where he worked as a waitress and a bagger at a grocery store. In 1982 Jenkins landed a job as a columnist for the San Diego Tribune
He wrote five columns per week and his byline appeared on more than 1,600 articles. His weekly humor column, "Howdy Doody," was syndicated nationally by United Feature Syndicate. These days Willis is an author/columnist/entertainment personality who has appeared on TV all over the world on programs like the Today Show (NBC), The Early Show (CBS), Daytime (ABC), The View (ABC), E! Entertainment Television (E!), American Idol (FOX), VH1, MTV2, BET and many others.
He also hosts two radio shows: "Jenkins Live" on Talk Radio Network and "The Willis Jenkins Morning Show" on KMJQ-FM in Indianapolis.
